Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information SolvePlot handles when you visit the website, sign in, upload a question, or use the solver and AI Tutor.

About this service

SolvePlot is an independent SAT Math study tool maintained by its developer. It embeds the Desmos graphing calculator and uses AI to help explain solving methods. It is not operated by or affiliated with Desmos or Google. This policy covers SolvePlot; linked services have their own privacy policies.

Information we collect

  • Account information — Your email address, account identifier, and authentication information. If you use Google sign-in, Google provides your basic profile, including your name and profile picture when available, and your email address. Your Google password is not provided to SolvePlot.
  • Questions and solutions — Uploaded screenshots, transcribed question text, answer choices, generated methods, explanations, answers, calculator entries, and saved tricks. Your screenshots and solved questions are stored for History.
  • Tutor requests — Text you highlight, any follow-up question you enter, and the relevant problem or solution context needed to answer it.
  • Usage and diagnostics — Request times, account and request identifiers, selected methods, success or error states, token usage, estimated model costs, and technical error details. Hosting services can also process IP addresses, browser information, and request logs.
  • Website analytics — Page views and general information about visits, such as referring websites, device and browser types, and approximate country or region, through Vercel Web Analytics.

Please upload only the question you want to solve. Crop out names, email addresses, student identifiers, and other personal or confidential information that is not needed.

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate you, provide the solver and AI Tutor, save your History and tricks, remember preferences, enforce usage limits, control service costs, investigate errors, and protect the service from misuse.

We also cache question text, solutions, explanations, and calculator-check results to avoid repeating model requests. A cached result may be reused when the same question is submitted again. This internal cache is separate from your account’s private History; your uploaded screenshots and account profile are not published in a public gallery.

Google sign-in information

We use your Google email and basic profile to create or identify your account and display your name and picture. The current Google sign-in integration does not request access to Gmail messages, Drive files, Calendar events, or Contacts.

Google profile information is not included in solving or tutor prompts. We do not sell Google account information, use it for advertising or credit decisions, or use it to train general-purpose AI models. Its use and sharing are limited to account functionality, service operation, security, and applicable legal obligations, consistent with Google’s API user-data and Limited Use rules.

Service providers and sharing

The service uses these providers to deliver its features:

  • Supabase handles authentication, account records, uploaded-image storage, History, saved tricks, and internal caches. Supabase privacy policy
  • OpenAI processes uploaded question images or text, relevant solution context, and tutor requests to generate responses. Requests are configured not to save response objects through the API’s response-storage setting. OpenAI may still retain information under its own abuse-monitoring and data-retention policies; this is not a promise of zero retention. OpenAI API data controls
  • Vercel hosts the website and server functions and provides Web Analytics. Vercel privacy notice
  • Desmos provides the embedded calculator and its scripts. Calculator content is handled by that embedded service under its own terms and policies. Desmos privacy policy
  • Google authenticates you if you choose Google sign-in. Google privacy policy

We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. The developer and service providers may access information where needed to operate the service, resolve support requests, investigate security or technical issues, or meet legal obligations. Provider infrastructure may process information in countries other than the one where you live.

Cookies and browser storage

Authentication uses cookies to keep you signed in and securely complete sign-in redirects. Local browser storage remembers light, dark, or system mode and sidebar preferences. Session storage holds palette and other appearance choices for the current browser session.

Vercel Web Analytics does not use analytics cookies; it measures visits using request-derived identifiers. This does not mean the whole website is cookie-free. You can clear browser cookies and storage, although doing so may sign you out or reset preferences.

Retention and security

Account records, uploaded screenshots, saved questions, and tricks are kept so the account features continue to work. They do not currently have a fixed automatic deletion period. Internal caches, usage records, and diagnostic logs can have different retention needs. Service-provider backups and security or legally required records may persist after a deletion request.

Access to account History and uploaded images is restricted through authentication and database and storage access controls. We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and requests

You can review saved questions in History, remove saved tricks, change your password in Settings, and clear preferences in your browser. The current interface does not include a self-service account-deletion button.

For access, correction, deletion of account data or uploaded content, or other privacy requests, contact Contact support. We may ask you to verify account ownership before handling a request. Please identify the account and the request without sending passwords or posting private screenshots in public issues. Your rights and any applicable exceptions depend on the laws where you live.

You can also disconnect Google access through your Google Account connections. Disconnecting Google does not by itself delete your existing SolvePlot account or saved questions.

Children

SolvePlot is intended for SAT students and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact the developer so the information can be reviewed and removed where required. Younger users who may legally use the service should involve a parent or guardian.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service changes. The current version and its update date will be available on this page. Questions about this policy can be directed to Contact support.

Attribution & third-party licenses

SolvePlot is independent of Desmos. Desmos retains ownership of its calculator and trademarks. Open-source software used here includes React (MIT), Next.js (MIT), KaTeX (MIT), and Lucide (ISC). Their respective licenses apply.

How SolvePlot works

SolvePlot sends your question to an AI model to read it and find a method. Calculator entries are checked before being shown, and your questions and solutions are saved in History. Desmos provides the embedded calculator.
